Dwelling Fire Insurance

A rental property can be a very profitable investment for a landlord. However, it is important to protect your investment against loss due to unforeseen circumstances which are beyond your control as a landlord. The Dwelling Fire Program offered by Farmers Fire offers multiple levels of protection for rental properties to provide you with the coverage you need to protect your real estate investment.

The Dwelling Fire policy can provide multiple levels of coverage and can include coverage for the following categories, which can be personalized to your individual needs.

  1. The Dwelling

This coverage is extended directly to your rental property and would be the coverage under which payments would be made to repair the property in the event of a covered loss.

  2. Other Structures

This coverage extends the coverage for dwelling to other buildings located on your property. Most frequently this would be a detached garage or a shed, but it could also include buildings like a gazebo or barn.

  3. Contents

This coverage extends to all of the contents kept in the rental property which are owned by the landlord. This could include items stored on premises by you as well as furnishings provided by the landlord to the tenants.

  4. Fair Rental Value

In the event that a loss occurs and the tenants are no longer able to reside in the property, we’ll reimburse you for the lost rents you incur, up until the property is livable once again.

  5. General Liability

General liability coverage can be provided in varying amounts based on your needs to protect you in the event of an accident on your property which causes personal injury or property damage to others. Included in this coverage is the cost to provide a defense in the event a lawsuit is brought against you.

  6. Medical Payments to Others

In the event that someone is hurt while on your property, this coverage helps to pay for their medical expenses, regardless of who is at fault.
